President Ramanath Lovind launched web portal to study about Mahatma Gandhi and to celebrate Mahatma Gandhi 150th Birth Anniversary on 2 October 2018. The people can participate in Bapu Ko Karyanjali or tribute to Gandhi Ji on the occasion of his birth anniversary. The president launched Mahatma Gandhi web portal and logo for the celebration of various events on birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

The 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi is observed in the form of two year long celebrations from October 2, 2018 to October 2, 2020 across the country and all over the globe.  A meeting of National Committee headed by the President of India was held in May 2018 to draw out a plan of action for the mega celebration where a total of 92 suggestions were received. Of those 92, a total of 33 suggestions were approved by the Executive Committee headed by the Prime Minister to organise nationwide and worldwide commemoration.

The upcoming events for birthday celebrations includes Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS 2018) Campaign, Nirgun Bhajan, Lok Alap, Rangoli Exhibition, Lauh Yatra among others. To realize the vision of Swachh Bharat, interested candidates can upload / share Karyanjali at

Events for Commemoration of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti

National Committee for Commemoration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi has announced various events which are described below:-

Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 15 September 2018 to 2 October 2018 Create an environment of cleanliness in the entire country.
Nirgun bhajan, Lok alap, Rangoli exhibition 29 September 2018 to 2 October 2018 4 day event to showcase major events and learnings from Bapu’s life through a range of interesting narrative styles.
Lauh Yatra – All India Relay Cycle Expedition 16 October 2018 – 27 January 2019 FSSAI plans to organize relay cycle expedition to promote the message of safe and wholesome food in the country. 1,50,000 cyclists covering 18,000 km will participate in this event.
Champaran Satyagraha – A Travelling Exhibition 19 April 2019 Travelling exhibition which is inspired by Gandhi ji first Satyagraha movement at the city of Champaran.
